Who are you?
Have you ever been called or addressed by a name or term which you didn’t like? Or been described by what didn’t resonate with you…Especially when these names, descriptions or titles result from a one-time event…
This is simply because identity is very important and in fact your identity determines all about you: what you get, what you can access and the way you are addressed and treated
Sometimes you are defined by your job, race, or color and these determine the way you are addressed and treated, what you get and what you can access…
What do you call yourself? What’s your identity? Do you allow what people call you affect you ? Do you allow what people call you define you ? You need to know who you are, you need to know yourself, you don’t need to allow what people call you define or shape the kind of personality you are. You need to know who you are. You need to know your identity.
The subject of identity is so important that even Jesus asked His disciples: who do men say I am Mark 8:27-29
I have good news for you today about your identity if you have surrendered to the lordship of Christ. And I must say that this not a religion or a control as some preachers have made it to be…it is the best thing that can happen to anyone because it is a life of freedom and not in slavery to anyone 1Cor 7:23
So, 2Cor 5:17
If anyone be in Christ…
He is a new creation
Poor? White? Black? Cheat? Wicked? Sick? Disadvantaged?
What are you? New creation!
These new creations belong to a kingdom whose king is Jesus. It is interesting because unlike most kings, Jesus is the king of Kings and Lord of Lords Rev 19:16. That automatically makes you a king and He confirmed it Himself: Rev 1:5-6
— I want us to know that wherever we find ourselves, we should always remember that we are kings. There are certain situations / challenges that happen in our lives as Christian but we should know that God has explanations for everything. The most important thing that should matter to us as Christians is our eternal life and relationship with God.
— Further confirmed in 1Pet 2:9- But us are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people , that yes should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness in to his marvelous light. This is who we should be as Christians, we are a chosen generation, we should know we are! If you don’t know who you are, you would be badly treated, if you don’t know who you are, you would be defeated.
So, I asked my question again…who are you? A King
Old things are passed away
Whatever and anything unpleasant about your life before you came to Christ is gone because Jesus paid for it! HalleluYAH sickness, poverty, unpleasant situations…name them, your wickedness in times past, your sins-all gone
Look at this scripture Rom 8:1
This is the problem: the later part of that scripture says “who do not walk according to flesh but according to the spirit.
Your flesh is your natural mind and if your natural mind controls or determines everything about you, you are no less than whoever is not a king…until your natural mind becomes the mind of the spirit-hmm
All things are become new
All about you is not determined here on earth, by govt, economy, or whatever is going on
All about you is determined from the kingdom, by God because you don’t actually belong here John 17:15-16
Because you don’t belong here, when/where men are cast down, you shall say there is a lifting up Job 22:29
As a new creation, you automatically passed from death to life John 5:25, I love this scripture.
In conclusion, what is your identity? Can I hear you? Who are you? 1Pet 2:9
